We been recently talking about some “SOPA and PIPA” thing and even many geeks around the world did say, how dangerous it could be and some sites gone black in support with many sites who are not supporting this US crazy SOPA and PIPA laws. Quatre-Bornes.com even though hosts in various mirrored locations our second main data station has gone black for a day and many of the sites which we are hosting in US has been taken down due to this act. If we are thinking that SOPA and PIPA is going to be something small, then we must realize again and say oh damn god its not that small as it was sounding….. The reason is that one such massive site like Megaupload has gone for a toss lately and some will follow for sure in coming days or months…. So let us talk about www of this process not world wide web but surely on What Why and Who….

Let’s surely start from the Blackouts which happened lately…. why it happened and who made it happen and who supported that.

Sites which completely went in support of Blackout – Wikipedia, Google, Facebook and some thousands of websites.

Blackouts
The announcement came a day after thousands of websites took part in a “blackout” to protest against the Stop Online Piracy Act (Sopa) and the Protect Intellectual Property Act (Pipa).

The US Chamber of Commerce has defended the proposed laws saying that enforcement agencies “lack the tools” to effectively apply existing intellectual property laws to the digital world.

Industry watchers suggest this latest move may feed into the wider debate.

Megaupload, one of the internet’s largest file-sharing sites, has been shut down by officials in the US.

The site’s founders have been charged with violating piracy laws – Federal prosecutors have accused it of costing copyright holders more than $500m (£320m) in lost revenue. The firm says it was diligent in responding to complaints about pirated material. In response, the hackers group Anonymous has targeted the FBI and US Department of Justice websites.

The news came a day after anti-piracy law protests, but investigators said they were ordered two weeks ago. The US Justice Department said that Megaupload’s two co-founders Kim Schmitz, and Mathias Ortmann were arrested in Auckland, New Zealand along with two other employees of the business at the request of US officials. It added that three other defendants were still at large.

“This action is among the largest criminal copyright cases ever brought by the United States and directly targets the misuse of a public content storage and distribution site to commit and facilitate intellectual property crime,” said a statement posted on its website. The FBI website was intermittently unavailable on Thursday evening due to what officials said was being “treated as a malicious act”.

The hackers’ group Anonymous said it was carrying out the attacks. The Motion Picture Association of America’s website also suffered disruption.

As Wikipedia and other websites go dark Wednesday in what backers are calling the largest Internet protest ever, the epic battle between Silicon Valley and Hollywood over online anti-piracy legislation continues to heat up, even as many Web surfers scratch their heads over what it all means.

The fight is over the Stop Online Piracy Act, a bill now stalled in the U.S. House of Representatives that’s aimed at stopping the spread of pirated copies of movies and other content by “rogue” websites overseas. Heavyweight supporters of SOPA such as Time Warner and the Motion Picture Association of America are butting up against tech titans such as Wikipedia, Google (GOOG) and Facebook, which argue that the legislation could lead to widespread censorship.

The online encyclopedia, the tenth most popular website in the U.S., shut down most of its English-language services and replaced its familiar white and gray design with a black homepage featuring information about the bills. Known as the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and the Protect IP Act (PIPA), the legislation—backed by major American media companies—would allow the Justice Department to seek a court order requiring U.S. search engines to scrub certain results from the sites, among other antipiracy measures.

“This bill is poorly constructed, quite dangerous and won’t actually address the real problem of piracy,” said Jimmy Wales, the co-founder of Wikipedia, in an interview. “Internet policy shouldn’t be set by Hollywood.”

Wikipedia, run by the nonprofit Wikimedia Foundation, is expected to be joined over the day in a blackout protest by thousands of other, mostly smaller websites including Reddit Inc. and the humor sites run by Cheezburger Inc

The protest was joined, too, by search giant Google Inc., which didn’t shut down its site, but around midnight covered most of the logo on its U.S. homepage with a black box, and added a link asking users to tell Congress “please don’t censor the web.”

Craigslist Inc., the popular classifieds site, also put up a black homepage that offered information about the laws and scolded “corporate paymasters” to “keep those clammy hands off the Internet!”

Mr. Wales of Wikimedia said he first proposed the idea of temporarily turning off Wikipedia as a protest in December, and it came into fruition after weeks of discussion by the site’s volunteer editors. “The community got together and had a huge conversation and decided we needed to take a stand,” said Mr. Wales.

The move to shut the site for a day was designed to make Congress hear a different point of view on the issue, said Mr. Wales. “To date, they’ve only really heard from professional lobbyists and Hollywood, and haven’t heard from people about how they use the Internet and why it should remain the way it is,” said Mr. Wales.

But in turning off its site, the nonprofit Wikipedia is also taking up the mantle of a cause that is tied to the business interests of major tech firms. “Our view is that Google is big enough to look out for themselves,” said Mr. Wales. “Our interest is really about the fundamental structure of the Internet.”

He said he wasn’t certain how the bills, if passed, might affect Wikipedia. “We could be barred from linking to websites that are classified as foreign infringing sites, and that raises quite obviously a lot of very deep First Amendment issues.”

The Wikipedia blackout affects its English-language site for users around the world, but the versions in other languages and versions formatted for mobile phones continue to operate.

How many of you really know Yahoo Pulse, well PULSE came way back in 2011 and was trying to gather all the social media things under one roof, well we had been following that for quite a long time and just that we love the yahoo technology one of the fine leaders in technology we must say. A new service called Yahoo Pulse will one-up Google Buzz by offering privacy tools and integration with Facebook newsfeeds on the Yahoo home page, The Wall Street Journal reports.

The Pulse site will behave a bit like Threadsy or the desktop app TweetDeck, aggregating real-time updates from Facebook alongside other social networks.

Yahoo has been trying for months to make itself the ultimate starting page for Internet users; you can already view your Facebook and Twitter feeds using Yahoo’s “Quick View” feature, but Yahoo Pulse will provide an improved, tabbed interface and offer new kinds of integration in Yahoo and Yahoo Mail.

Notably, Yahoo Pulse will have a privacy menu that will apply to multiple services. That feature will be an important draw for some users, given that Facebook has dealt with a big privacy backlash in recent weeks. Just don’t expect it to add completely new privacy features to your Facebook account.

The privacy angle is also pertinent when you consider that Google — Yahoo’s chief rival — made some major privacy errors that greatly hindered the launch of Google Buzz, a very similar service. Those faux pas and the lack of Facebook integration prevented Buzz from becoming a killer application. Pulse is Yahoo’s answer to Buzz; maybe it learned from its rival’s mistakes.

The specifics of the new interface and integrations have not yet been revealed, but it’s all expected to launch within a few days. We’re curious to hear what kinds of integrations with Facebook Yahoo users would like to see, so let us know in the comments.
