Well its been some time that we’ve been talking about Mauritius Telecom – AKA Orange or what so ever you might call it. But to our understanding this is the most inefficient companies you would ever come across in whole life. Our Prime Minister has been giving speeches left and right every where about the progress of the nation, progress of economy, the future and everything that would make media cover the whole process. Well its too good to the ears and too perfect to be part of Mauritius.
Our Prime Minister rightly says there must be a “Vision for the country and about the country” – You just think about the future of any nation which is Telecommunication, then we would surely say. You would go blind rather than trusting on one of the worst ever Telecommunication company. Trust on those SLA’s they have and the media coverage they give around you would surely be suprised. But thats mauritius with all the creamy things on top but its like a empty drum making hellava noise.
Its been a week that Mauritius Telecom connections been tripping up and down in normal hours, you do not have to think how the connection would be, but even in the half peak hours we’ve tested the lines right from ADSL to Frame Relay connections. We did talk about this irritating internet connection problems of Telecom, and we wrote many articles in recent past years, and we got banned for local market for telling the truth couple of times, but we would never stop saying the truth.
Have you ever seen the ADSL lines slower than dial up lines, to the reality part a 2 meg file to download from 1meg adsl lines takes an HOUR, WOT! you think we are joking. Surely we are not to upload a 2meg file through ftp its taking more then 2 hours well we don’t know the reason but it takes that much time.
How bad can be the network of Mauritius Telecom? we even wonder if its a Telecom Industry or is there any machines of stone age working in there. I guess even the world war II type machines would work much faster than that. We just tried a normal ping to www.google.com or www.yahoo.com or any other site we know its taking about 2020 – 3000k+ thousand MS just to ping and after every 2 ping there is 2 request times out sessions.
Well thats the normal thing, which literally means we are having 50% connection problem straight away and it clearly shows “Request Time Out” sessions, well you might assume that we don’t know what we’ve been talking about but we tried some other thing as well by doing tracert command.
I guess everyone who is of min IT backdrop understands whats TRACERT all about, you get down to the connection gateway there it fails – which is literally the first stop “Mauritius Telecom – ORANGE”. So we’ve decided to talk to one of the staff but you have to wait for some 20 min for someone to pick up the call and you listen all the crap like copy and paste statement from the employees of BPO – Telecom, end of the day the solution is nothing at all. You wait and if you get lucky and they realiase the network is going bonkers, then they might correct some minimal issues and blame others for their problems.
How on earth do you ever think, any small IT companies would every work with this Telecommunication Network in Mauritius?
Now they would say we are not having monopoly in mauritius, we have others like emtel and the rest use them, but the unfortunate thing is that we are all dogs going to be eating in the same plate don’t we.

Mauritius Telecom (Orange) is the worst choice can ever make! only thiefs waiting for grabbing money are there!! waiting long for installation and sooo expensive. Some staff says you should do this way, another staff says you should that way…the other way is wrong. Finally who is wrong and who is right, how should i know?? Maybe i am wrong for choosing such a Bastard and unprofessional Service. This Company should be Banned and close!! Mauritius needs a Better Internet Service Provider with much IT PROFESSIONALS!!
