The Nokia 3210, 3310, 3390, 8250 have a ringtone composer so you can enter the ringtone by pressing keys on your phone. This method is limited to 50 notes & there are a few other technical limitations.

The composer format uses a code that correlates to the specific musical notes c,d,e,f,g,a,b and note durations expressed in factions of a beat.

Hence 16c is 1/16 of a beat of note C. The number after the letter is the octave (from 1 to 3). Hence a note will be

[number representing duration][note][octave]

For sharps you enter # before the note letter.

Hence f sharp in octave 2 for 1/4 second would be: 8#C2

You enter the notes into your phone by entering the basic note and then adjusting the duration (default is 1/4) and octave afterwards, using the following keys::

1 = C, 2 = D, 3 = E, 4 = F, 5 = G, 6 = A, 7 = B
8 = Shorten tone (1 2 4 8 16 32)
9 = Make note longer (1 2 4 8 16 32)
* = Choose octave (123)
0 = Insert a break
# = Sharp note

As you might imagine this can be quite a tedious process, so the where you can find KeyPress codes it makes things a lot easier.

Nokia KeyPress ringtone format
KeyPress is the simplest format. It is designed to be exactly what you need to type into your phone (other than setting the tempo) in order to create the ringtone composer code above.

Check out the start of the example above: 8g1

That's note G for 1/8 of a beat in octave 1 (default)

Hence you need to enter note G first which is 5

Then press 8 to shorten the tone from 1/4(defaul) to 1/8

Then that's it as the octave default to 1

Hence 8g1 = 58 which is how the Keypress code below starts.

The only complication for entering the KeyPress code is where you see a number in brackets, this means that rather than just pressing the number you need to hold in down until a dot appears in the note.

Example of the Keypress format
